Jeannette Sampson PMHNP-BC, FNP-C, CARN-AP
Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner | Family Nurse Practitioner | Advanced Practice Addiction Specialist
Jeannette Sampson is a highly experienced, triple-certified Nurse Practitioner specializing in psychiatric mental health, addiction medicine, and comprehensive patient care. With an extensive clinical background spanning outpatient psychiatry, substance use treatment, inpatient hospital care, and nursing education, Jeannette brings a unique combination of medical expertise, compassion, and individualized treatment to the individuals and families she serves.
Jeannette specializes in working with adolescents and adults experiencing complex mental health conditions, including depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, psychotic disorders, and substance use disorders. She has particular expertise in treating individuals with co-occurring mental health and addiction challenges, often referred to as dual diagnosis.
Her approach to mental health care is compassionate, collaborative, and grounded in evidence-based treatment. Jeannette understands that seeking help can be difficult, particularly when individuals and families are navigating complicated diagnoses or substance use challenges. She strives to create a welcoming, structured, and nonjudgmental environment where patients feel understood, supported, and empowered to take meaningful steps toward recovery and long-term wellness.
Experienced in Building Meaningful Connections Through Telehealth
With years of experience providing video telehealth services, Jeannette has developed a strong ability to establish trust and build meaningful therapeutic relationships with patients, whether meeting virtually or in person. She believes compassionate, personalized psychiatric care should never depend on physical proximity. Through attentive listening, open communication, and collaborative treatment, Jeannette creates a supportive therapeutic environment for patients in the Rochester area and throughout New York State.
Specialized Experience in Psychiatry and Addiction Medicine
Throughout her career, Jeannette has worked extensively with individuals facing substance use disorders, mood instability, and serious mental illness. Her clinical experience includes providing medication-assisted treatment, psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and supportive care in both outpatient and inpatient settings.
Jeannette has developed particular expertise in long-acting injectable medications used in psychiatric and addiction treatment. Her experience includes medications such as Sublocade, Brixadi, and Vivitrol, as well as long-acting injectable antipsychotic medications. These treatment options can play an important role in supporting medication adherence, symptom stabilization, and long-term recovery when clinically appropriate.
Her background includes clinical roles with BEST PLLC, Conifer Park, and Helio Health, where she has provided care to individuals navigating addiction recovery, withdrawal management, and co-occurring psychiatric conditions.
A Whole-Person Approach to Mental Health
Jeannette believes effective mental health treatment involves more than managing symptoms. She works collaboratively with patients to improve emotional regulation, strengthen insight, develop healthier coping strategies, and support informed decision-making.
Recognizing the important role families and caregivers play in recovery, she emphasizes clear communication, patient education, and coordinated care. Her goal is to help patients and their loved ones better understand their diagnoses, explore treatment options, and build the confidence needed to move forward.
Whether supporting an adolescent experiencing mood instability, an adult managing a serious psychiatric condition, or someone navigating the challenges of addiction recovery, Jeannette approaches each individual with respect, empathy, and a commitment to lasting improvement.
Education and Professional Background
Jeannette earned her Master of Science in Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing from SUNY Polytechnic Institute and her Master of Science in Family Nurse Practitioner studies from St. John Fisher College. She also holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Rochester.
